The Columbia River all-depth sport halibut fishery closed June 3, 2016 with an estimated harvest of 11,493 pounds (with Oregon catch numbers for June 2 and 3 still to come), representing an overage of 484 pounds in the Columbia River Subarea. As a result, the Columbia River (Marine Area 1 in Washington) nearshore fishery will close at the end of the day (11:59 PM), Wednesday, June 8, 2016 for the remainder of the year.

In all marine areas open to halibut fishing, there is a one-fish daily catch limit and no minimum size restriction.
