This IPHC News Release includes:
- Invitations to submit regulatory and catch limit proposals for consideration at the 2017 Annual Meeting
- The announcement of the 2016 Interim Meeting, and
- The announcement of the 2017 Annual Meeting
CALL FOR REGULATORY PROPOSALS
The Commission invites the public to submit requests for regulatory changes (season length, clearances in Area 4, logbook reporting measures, etc.) or management actions for review at the Annual Meeting. The deadline for submission is 31 October 2016.
Proposals received after the deadline will not be considered by the Commission.
The submission form can be downloaded from the Annual Meeting page of the Commission's website (http://www.iphc.int/meetings-and-events/annual-meeting.html) or can be requested by calling the Commission offices at (206) 634-1838. IPHC ANNOUNCES THE 2016 INTERIM MEETING
The Commission moved to a public meeting format in 2014 and it will remain in place for this year’s Interim Meeting, scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday, 29-30 November 2016. The meeting will be held in Seattle, but the location is still being determined and will be announced in a future news release.
All of the staff presentations and discussion will be open to public attendance. As in recent years, these public sessions will also be webcast for those unable to attend in person. The executive sessions and finance and administration sessions will not be open to the public. The meeting agenda and webcast information will be posted at the IPHC website (http://iphc.int/meetings-and-events/interim-meeting.html). The webcast recordings and the meeting presentations will also be posted on the website following the meeting.
CALL FOR HARVEST ADVICE OR CATCH LIMIT PROPOSALS: 2017 FISHING SEASON
The Commission will distribute a brief summary of stock assessment information and the preliminary harvest decision table as soon as possible following the 2016 Interim Meeting. This information will also be available on the Commission's webpage at http://www.iphc.int.
The Commission invites proposals for 2017 catch limits or harvest advice. Comments should be submitted to the Commission by 31 December 2016.

IPHC ANNOUNCES THE 2017 ANNUAL MEETING
The Ninety-Third Annual Meeting of the International Pacific Halibut Commission will be held 23-27 January 2017 in Victoria, British Columbia, at the Delta Hotels Victoria Ocean Pointe Resort. This year’s meeting is scheduled to open on Monday with presentations on the fishery, the 2016 stock assessment, and the harvest decision table, and conclude on Friday with Commission approval of catch limits and regulations for 2017. All public sessions and administrative sessions will be open to the public. These open sessions will also be webcast and posted on the Commission website.
