CALIFORNIA SPORT FISHERY CLOSING

The preliminary catch for California’s Pacific halibut sport fishery through 18 September was estimated to be 27,846 pounds. After taking into consideration recent catch trends and weather forecasts, fishery managers project that the remaining 1,794 pounds will be taken during the period of 22-23 September. As a result, the 2016 Pacific halibut sport fishery in California will be closed for the remainder of the season effective 24 September.
