After earning a master degree in Marine Biology at the Padua University, I started working for the Research National Council (CNR) in Ancona (Italy). Within few months there, I became more and more involved with the assessment of anchovy and sardine in the Adriatic Sea. I was offered a PhD scholarship (co-funded by the Università Politecnica delle Marche and the CNR) to focus on the ecology of these two species and to look at ways to improve their assessment and management in the Adriatic Sea.
After earning my PhD and spending some more time working in the Mediterranean area, I moved to the Centre for Environment, Fisheries and Aquaculture Science (Cefas) in UK, where for 3 years I’ve been responsible to assess the status of some small pelagic stocks in the ICES areas and to provide scientific advice to the Department of Environment Food and Human affairs (Defra).
Here at IPHC I am currently working with Dr. Hicks on the implementation of a stakeholder- guided Management Strategy Evaluation.
